Geoff Smith

Geoff began working life teaching, before becoming involved in industries such as motor vehicle manufacturing, food processing, textile manufacturing, distribution, hospitality and public health.

He had a parallel career with unions, was the General Secretary of the National Gay Rights Coalition, and a member of a working group for the establishment of the Human Rights Commission.

He has worked with Franklin Family Support and Mangere Budgeting Services Trust – currently as Chairperson of their Board.

Geoff was appointed to the FinCap Board in July 2024. He is a Trustee to provide a perspective for service providers operating in Northland and Auckland.
